It took eleven innings for the Modesto Nuts to claim a 3-2 win over the Lancaster JetHawks Sunday night at John Thurman Field. On back-to-back nights, the JetHawks were able to score a run in the first inning, Trent Woodward hit an RBI double. Keach Ballard II also hit an RBI single to take a 2-0 lead. The Nuts tied the game in the third when John Fuentes hit a two-run single.
Shane Hoelscher opened the bottom half of the 11th with a walk and Drew Weeks was intentionally walked. With one-out and two on, Collin Ferguson hit a walk-off single to bring Hoelscher home. Nuts starter Parker French worked seven innings, allowed two runs on five hits, and struck out one. The bullpen worked four scoreless innings on two hits, while striking out seven. Troy Neiman got the win for the Modesto Nuts.
The Nuts (30-33; 56-77) played their last home game for the 2016 season, they will conclude the season with a seven-game road trip. After a Monday off, they will begin a three-game series against Lake Elsinore Storm (33-30; 65-68) on Tuesday night. First pitch set at 6:00 pm. The Nuts will send Helmis Rodriguez (3-9, 3.62) to the mound, opposing him is Dylan Stoops (0-0, 1.80) for the Storm.
