Angels sink Red Sox in 10 on Christian Moore’s 2-run HR

Christian Moore hit two home runs, including a two-run shot in the bottom of the 10th inning, to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.

Moore’s second home run of the game came against Justin Wilson (2-1) with one out and drove in automatic runner Scott Kingery. It was his third home run of the season. Moore hit a solo homer in the eighth.

Boston’s Marcelo Mayer collected three hits. His RBI single in the 10th inning drove in automatic runner Ceddanne Rafaela and gave the Red Sox a 2-1 lead.

Although he gave up two hits in the 10th, including Mayer’s RBI hit, Reid Detmers (3-2) was credited with the win.

Boston starter Garrett Crochet pitched seven scoreless innings. He gave up three hits, walked three and struck out 10. He lowered his ERA to 2.06.

It was Boston’s fourth consecutive loss.

The Angels trailed 1-0 until Moore homered against reliever Greg Weissert with one out in the eighth.

Boston scored its first run in the third. Mayer led off the inning with a triple and raced home on Nate Eaton’s sacrifice fly.

Los Angeles shortstop Zach Neto came out of the game with an apparent injury after he made a fielding error that allowed Romy Gonzalez to reach base in the ninth.

Los Angeles starter Tyler Anderson exited with two outs in the fifth. He gave up a run on two hits, walked two and struck out five.

The Angels received a two-out double from Taylor Ward in the bottom of the fourth, but Ward became the final out of the inning when he was tagged out trying to get back to the base after rounding third on Logan O’Hoppe’s single. Ward nearly ran through a stop sign and was tagged out by a diving Eaton.

The Angels are 4-1 against the Red Sox this season.
